But how can we stay updated on the latest opportunities without constantly checking the website or using third-party apps or services? I have found a simple and effective way to get instant notifications for the jobs that you are interested in, without any additional tools or expenses. And I will share with you the exact steps and screenshots to set it up.
RSS: A Simple Way to Stay Updated on Your Favorite Websites
Before I explain how to get instant notifications for new jobs on Upwork, you need to know what an RSS feed is. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and it is a way for websites to share their latest updates with their readers. An RSS feed is a text file that contains the title, description, and link for each new post on a website. You can subscribe to an RSS feed using an RSS reader, which is a software or app that collects and displays the feeds that you follow. By subscribing to an RSS feed, you can stay updated on the latest content from your favorite websites without having to visit them one by one.
Steps, How to do it?
Upwork has a handy search box that lets us find jobs that match our skills.
For instance, we can type in video editing and see what comes up.
After entering our keyword and seeing the results, we can notice an icon next to the number of jobs. This icon is the link to the RSS feed for our search.
When we click on this icon, we are taken to a page full of codes. This is the RSS feed that contains the updates for our search. We need to copy the URL of this page and paste it in the feed reader that will alert us when new jobs are posted.
The best Feed reader, Telegram Bot
There are many feed readers available, both free and paid ones. But in this article, I will show you the best and my favorite one. It is a bot in Telegram that is very flexible and easy to use.
- The first step is to create a new group in Telegram and name it according to the jobs that we want to get. For example, we can call it “Video editing jobs FEED”.
2. The next step is to add our amazing bot to the group. The bot is called RSS and you can find it here: https://t.me/rss2tg_bot
3. The last step is to give the bot the RSS feed links that we copied from Upwork. These links are based on the keywords that we used for our jobs, such as “video editing”, “video editor”, or “adobe premier”. To add a link to the bot, we need to type the following command in the group:
/add @rss2tg_bot Rss feed link
so in our previous example, the command will be:

The bot also has many settings that we can customize to our preferences. To access the settings, we need to type /settings@rss2tg_bot in the group.
You can experiment with the settings to find the best way to receive your job alerts. I like to get the full text of the job description, so I can read all the details without leaving a Telegram.
